GAME TRANSLATE
Terms of Service
The ground rules for using Game Translate, its patches and the Merch Store.
Last updated: October 14, 2026
About these terms
These terms apply to gametranslate.us – the translation patches, comments, donations and the Merch Store. Game Translate is run by one person, as an individual (not a company), based in Vietnam. “We”, “us” and “our” mean that person; “you” means anyone using the site or buying from the store.
The shop is also shown in German, French and Spanish. These terms are written in English; if a translation differs, the English text applies, unless the law of your country says otherwise.
By using the site or placing an order you agree to these terms. How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
An unofficial fan project
Game Translate is an unofficial fan project. We are not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by any game developer, publisher or platform holder. Game titles and trademarks belong to their owners and are mentioned only to say which game a patch is for.
The patches are free and always will be – we never sell patches or patched games. The Merch Store sells our own original pixel-art designs; buying a mug (like donating) helps cover the costs of the site.
PART A · PATCHES, COMMENTS AND DONATIONS
Patches only – no ROMs
We only publish patch files that contain our own changes. We never host or link to ROMs, disc images or BIOS files, and you need your own copy of the game. Comments that ask for or link to them are removed.
What you may do with our patches
- Use them for personal, non-commercial play, and link to our patch pages – please do!
- Don’t sell our patches or games patched with them, share pre-patched ROMs, re-upload our patches elsewhere without asking, or remove the credits.
- Want to translate a patch into another language or build on our work? Ask us first.
Patches come “as is”
Patches are made by fans in their free time. They may contain bugs, crash a game or damage save files. Keep a backup of your original files and saves. We give no warranty that a patch works on every emulator, flash cart or console.
Comments, bug reports and screenshots
You keep ownership of what you post, and you give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to show it on the site and use it to improve our translations. Don’t post spam, harassment, links to pirated files, other people’s personal data or anything illegal. We may edit, hide or delete posts and block users who break these rules.
Donations
Donations through PayPal are voluntary gifts. They don’t buy a product or service beyond the donator perks shown on the site, which we may change. Donations are generally not refundable; if you sent one by mistake, write to us within 14 days.
PART B · MERCH STORE
Who you buy from
Mugs in the Merch Store are sold by the individual who runs Game Translate (not a company). Each mug is printed after you order by a print partner (BurgerPrints and their studios in the USA, EU and UK) and shipped to you directly. Contact for orders: gametranslate.us@gmail.com.
Your account
When your order is paid, we make a free customer account with your order e-mail (unless you already have one) and send you a link to choose a password. Keep your password private – you are responsible for what happens in your account. You can ask us to close it at any time.
Orders
- Your order is accepted when we send the order confirmation e-mail.
- We may cancel an order (and refund it in full) if a price or product was shown wrongly, a custom design breaks these terms, we suspect fraud, or the print partner cannot make or ship it.
- Check your name, gamer tag and shipping address before you pay: mugs go to print soon after you order, so changes are only possible within the short window shown on the order page.
Prices, currency and taxes
- Prices are shown in US dollars, euros or pounds depending on where your order ships, and are set per market.
- Prices for the EU and the UK include VAT. For other destinations, local import duties or taxes may apply and are paid by the recipient.
- Shipping is added at the checkout as shown in the Shipping Policy.
- Payment is taken by PayPal (PayPal account or card) when you place the order.
Production, shipping, returns and refunds
Production and delivery times, costs and tracking are explained in our Shipping Policy. Damaged or misprinted mugs, returns and refunds are covered by our Refund & Returns Policy. Nothing in these terms takes away the rights you have under the consumer law of your country.
Mugs with your own picture, design or name are made to your order. Where the law allows, they can’t be returned just because you changed your mind – but a damaged or misprinted mug is always replaced or refunded.
Custom mugs, names and AI designs
- You may only upload pictures and text that you made yourself or have permission to use, including permission from people shown in a photo.
- Don’t send content that is illegal, hateful, sexual, violent, harassing, or that copies someone else’s logo, character, artwork or trademark. We may refuse or cancel such orders with a full refund.
- You give us permission to use your upload only to make, print, ship and support your order (and to send it to the AI service when you choose an AI option).
- AI designs are generated automatically and may not look exactly like your photo or description; you approve the design before you order. Colours on screen can look slightly different from the printed mug.
“Made by Players” designs
If you tick “share my design” on a custom mug, you allow us to turn the design (not your photo) into a mug sold in the shop, credited with your first name and the first letter of your last name. In return you get an e-mail with the link and a thank-you code when it goes on sale. Changed your mind? Write to us before it is published and we won’t use it; after that, we’ll take it down if you ask.
Our designs
The designs, pictures and texts in the Merch Store are ours. You may share links and photos of the mugs you bought, but you may not copy our designs to make or sell your own products. Rights holders who believe something on the site infringes their rights can write to us with the details, and we will look into it quickly and remove it where appropriate.
Codes, sales and rewards
- Discount codes are for one use, can’t be combined with other codes, don’t apply to sale prices, have no cash value and may expire. Codes sent to an e-mail address only work with that address.
- Welcome code: the code from our e-mail popup is for a first order, works only with the e-mail address it was sent to and expires after 30 days.
- Supporter price: people who donated to Game Translate get a discount on mugs while signed in. It can’t be combined with discount codes, set or team prices or sales, and we may change it at any time.
- Sales (such as Black Friday to Cyber Monday) run for the dates shown. Set and team discounts pause during a sale.
- Set and team discounts apply automatically in the cart; only the better one counts, never both.
- Friend link: the friend gift is for a person’s first order only. The reward for sharing is sent when the friend’s order is shipped. Ordering through your own link, using made-up or duplicate accounts, or posting your link on coupon sites is not allowed – we may cancel gifts and rewards obtained this way.
- Levels and rewards: your level is based on the mugs you bought (refunded mugs don’t count). Level rewards and Level 3 designs are a thank-you, not something you buy, and we may change or end them; codes already sent stay valid until they expire.
- We may change or end any promotion at any time, without affecting orders already placed.
Reviews
Reviews must be honest and about a mug you actually bought. We publish good and bad reviews alike, but we may remove reviews that break the comment rules above. The thank-you code for a review with a photo or video is given for the photo, whatever rating you choose. By posting a review you allow us to show it, and its photos or videos, on the site and in our shop listings.
GENERAL
E-mails
Some e-mails are part of using the site (order and shipping e-mails, password links, bug-report status). Others – cart reminders, review requests, rewards and new-translation news – can be stopped with the link in the e-mail or by replying “stop”. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Liability
We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, including lost save files or data. For the free parts of the site, our total liability is limited to the donations you made in the 12 months before a claim. For Merch Store purchases, it is limited to the amount you paid for the order concerned. These limits don’t apply where the law doesn’t allow them, and they don’t affect your rights as a consumer.
Applicable law
These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, where the site is run. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim there. Before anything else, please write to us – we’ll do our best to sort things out.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version. Orders are covered by the terms that applied when you placed them.
