How to make a game ringtone in 4 steps

1

Choose the game or its music

A SNES game (.sfc / .smc) – the page plays it and keeps every song it hears – or a music rip: .spc, .psf with its .psflib, .sdat, a GBA or Nintendo DS game.

2

Pick the 30 seconds

Drag the blue frame on the waveform, or use the slider. Choose the length (up to 30 seconds), the fade out and a soft start, then press Listen.

3

Download for your phone

“iPhone (.m4r)” or “Android (.mp3)”. The sound is cut, faded and brought to a steady level in your browser.

4

Set it as your ringtone

iPhone: Files › Downloads › Share › Use as Ringtone. Android: Settings › Sound › Ringtone › +. Details below.

Set it as your ringtone on an iPhone

  • iOS 26 or later: the .m4r is saved in Files › Downloads. Open it, tap Share, then Use as Ringtone. Choose it in Settings › Sounds & Haptics › Ringtone – or for one contact only, in that contact’s page.
  • Older iOS, with a computer: connect the iPhone, open it in Finder (Mac) or in Apple Devices / iTunes (Windows) and drag the .m4r onto it.
  • Older iOS, without a computer: open the file in GarageBand on the iPhone and share it as a Ringtone.
  • iPhone ringtones can be up to 30 seconds long – the tool never makes a longer one.

Set it as your ringtone on Android

  • The .mp3 is saved in Downloads.
  • Open Settings › Sound (& vibration) › Phone ringtone and add it with “+” or “My sounds”. On Samsung phones the + is at the top of the ringtone list. The names differ a little between phones.
  • Or move the file into the Ringtones folder with a file manager: it then shows up in the list by itself.

Which games work?

You haveYou get
A SNES game .sfc .smcEvery song the page hears while it plays the game itself (the title, the intro, the first places). For a song later in the game, add a Snes9x save state made while it plays.
SNES music .spc .rsnThe original sound of the console’s sound chip.
PS1 / PS2 rips .psf .minipsf .psf2, Nintendo DS .nds .sdat, GBA .gba .gsf, Saturn .ssfThe notes played with the game’s own instruments – close to the game, not the exact sound of the console.

Questions and answers

Is the ringtone maker free?

Yes. No account, no limit, nothing to install.

Are my game files uploaded?

No. The game or the music is read on your device, and the ringtone is made in your browser.

How long can a ringtone be?

Up to 30 seconds here. iPhone takes ringtones of up to 30 seconds from the Files app; Android has no fixed limit, but 30 seconds is plenty for a ring.

Which file do I need for an iPhone?

The .m4r – AAC sound in the file type iPhone ringtones use. The .mp3 is for Android.

How do I make a SNES ringtone?

Choose the .sfc or .smc file above. The page plays the game for a few minutes and lists each song it hears; open one, pick 30 seconds and download.

A song I want is not in the list. Why?

A SNES game loads a song only when it plays it, so the page finds the songs of the part it reached. Play to the song in Snes9x, make a save state and add it with the game.

Can I make a ringtone from a PS1, DS or GBA game?

Yes, from games whose sound engine VGMTrans knows. These songs are played from their notes with the game’s own instruments, so they sound close to the game rather than exactly like it.

Can I share the ringtones I make?

The music belongs to the game’s makers. Making a ringtone from a game you own for your own phone is one thing; sharing or selling it is not.
