Kenyuu Densetsu Yaiba

English translation patch and complete guides for Banpresto’s 1994 Super Famicom action RPG based on Gosho Aoyama’s Yaiba.

Kenyuu Densetsu Yaiba (“Legend of the Sword Hero Yaiba”) follows Yaiba Kurogane, a wild samurai boy raised in the jungle, after his rival Onimaru picks up the Fujin Sword and becomes a real oni. Yaiba draws the legendary Raijin Sword, fights through Onimaru’s Eight Oni and his castle, then crosses Japan hunting seven legendary orbs that lead to the Dragon Orb. It plays as a top-down action RPG, alone or with a friend as Rai. The game never left Japan. Our patch translates it into English, and the guides below were written from the game’s own code while we translated it.

Guides

About these guides

  • Names match the patch. Every place, person and item is written exactly as it appears on screen in the English version.
  • Read from the game. Chest contents, prices, move inputs, EXP rules and boss stats come from the game’s own tables and scripts, and were tested in the patched game. Where the 2004 GameFAQs walkthrough missed something, the entries say so.
  • Your progress is saved. Ticks are stored in your browser and shared between all the guide pages.
